Beginner and Jr High Band
Beginner band is made up of mostly 6th graders in their first year as band students. They are pre fitted on their instruments as 5th graders, and use this opportunity on a new campus to begin their musical journey, advance to different instruments, and perform for the first time as an instrumentalist in a group of their peers.
Jr. High band consists of mostly 7th Graders, and 8th graders who are 2nd year band students at City View ISD. This group fosters the hard work necessary to take that next step towards high school band, and is important in solidifying technique and approach to fundamentals and musicianship.
8th graders will now be able to perform as a part of the high school band which allows them to do both Band and Athletics moving forward. They earn this ability as a 3rd year band student or by showing proficiency in their instrument and discipline. We have found this gives students the best opportunity to really give every skill that they have a chance to grow.
